Common reasons to request help
- Missing or folded shingles
- Hail marks and damaged surfaces
- Loose ridge caps or flashing
- Debris impact and punctures
- Leaks appearing after a storm
Start with documentation
Photograph visible damage from the ground, fallen materials, interior stains and the approximate time of the storm. Do not remove roofing pieces if they can be safely left in place for the inspection.
Repairing isolated storm damage
Localized wind damage, a limited number of missing shingles or a small impact area may be repairable if compatible materials are available and the surrounding roof remains serviceable.
When storm damage leads to replacement
Broad hail impact, widespread lifted shingles, repeated water entry or damage across multiple roof slopes may justify a replacement discussion. The final decision should consider the condition of the whole roof, not only one damaged spot.
