Common reasons to request help
- Shingles found in the yard
- Lifted or creased shingle tabs
- Loose ridge caps and edge materials
- New whistling, rattling or leaks
- Damage around vents and flashing
Why wind damage can spread
Once a shingle edge lifts, later gusts can catch a larger surface. Exposed underlayment and fasteners may then allow water into the roofing assembly.
Matching repair materials
A localized repair works best when compatible shingles or panels can be obtained and the surrounding roof is flexible enough to work with. Older, brittle materials can make isolated repairs less reliable.
Inspect more than the missing spot
The visible missing shingle may not be the only problem. Nearby tabs, ridge caps, flashing and roof edges should be checked for loosened seals and hidden creases.
